Erfoud

Traveling in the south of Morocco, discover Erfoud and its palm! In the heart of the desert, this charming little village sleeps at the foot of the High Atlas, on the road of the thousand kasbahs. Erfoud The site is an ideal starting point to explore the Moroccan desert, where you will discover extraordinary scenery! 

It was the French who first settled in Erfoud to monitor the rebellious tribes of Tafilalet. The city then flourished thanks to its flourishing trade in marble and its dates. It is also famous for its curious marine fossils (goniatites wound, Orthoceras, Trilobites, etc..) Old 360 million years.

While in Erfoud , you should visit the Marble ! Many in the region, they are specialized in the extraction and polishing fossilized stones. 15km south - east lie the quarries Goniatite a very precious black marble studded with fossils.

Borj Est: the top of this rock which dominates both the city and the nearby oasis , the view is absolutely stunning ! The palm Tizimi extends out of sight along the wadis Ziz and Rheris . In the distance we distinguish the first sand dunes, tinged with pink when the sun goes down. A moment of pure magic and deep serenity ...

Venture into the plain Marha, a few kilometers from the oasis of Fezna. In the desert, you will discover the heavenly staircase, the Golden Spiral and the City of Orion, three monumental works by the German artist Hannsjoerg Voth . The show is indescribable !

From Erfoud , go north on the N13 in the direction of Ksar Maadid, a charming fortified village on the road of a thousand kasbah. Not far away is the source Ati Al Ain, an incredible fountain in the desert!

Then go south of Rissani Erfoud on the road, through the landscapes of the reg and palm Tafilalet . Fifty kilometers after you can reach Merzouga Rissani, near Erg Chebbi.

Erfoud is located 20 km north of Rissani, 280 km from Ouarzazate, and about 320 km south of Meknes. You can opt for buses and taxis, or get there on your own .
